I have always been fascinated with the supernatural, specifically ghosts and haunted locations. Reflecting on my obsession, it's not just 'the thrill of the chill' that comes from a good ghost story that grips me, I also thrive on the history of the site, the people that lived there and the events that have imprinted themselves on the fabric of this small island.

On the main menu, you will find vignettes; these are short accounts that can be consumed in seconds. If you're looking for a more detailed narrative, the stories may provide that, whilst taking no more than five minutes to read. They are not rich in extensive research, but time is taken to ensure that what is written is supported by a number of sources. You'll also find a few blogs on the site, where I share my personal views or dig into a particular subject.

I'm often asked if the stories featured here are true. In every instance, they are accounts that I have read and researched or heard first-hand. I have not fabricated any element. Some are very old and have no doubt been told countless times. With each telling, elements will change, an exaggeration added or a name misquoted, but to the best of my knowledge, these stories are true.

My apologies if there is a weighting towards tales from my beloved Yorkshire, this is a bias that I am consciously trying to address. If you have a story that you would like to share with me, please use the contact form below, or feel free to 'direct message' me via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook - all of my account links are at the foot of the page.

I hope you enjoy reading these accounts as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
